Or person may have only one area of difficulty, such as Dysgraphia, where the persons hand writing is very messy, words can be a mix of capitol and lower case letters, words can be squashed together or to widely spaced, spelling difficulty and some letters such as b, d, p, q, m, w etc are reversed.

Approximately 10% of the population has dyslexia, and it is a hereditary disorder, so having a family member with dyslexia, does increase your risk of maybe having dyslexia. Dyslexia is a life long condition, but if the dyslexic person learns exactly how the dyslexia affects them, what type of learner they are, are they visual, auditory or Kinesthetic (hands on) learner, by knowing these you can find %26amp; develop strategies to help you.
Your doctor wont be able tell you if you have dyslexia, as its not a medical condition, you need to see a specialist in dyslexia, who can do a full assessment of your ability to read, write, spell, maths, memory, sequencing skills etc.
You can have private testing see links below, but they can be expensive. Or if your at school still speak to the school counselor, and if they think you may benefit from having a formal assessment they can organize for you to be tested, after they have asked for permission from your parents, but not all educational psychologists can test for dyslexia, so you need to ask.
Both my daughter and I are dyslexic, we also have Irlens which the signs %26amp; symptoms are very similar to dyslexia, except the word and letter appear to move, merge etc. What are the signs of Dyslexia?
It depends on your age first off. Many "signs of dyslexia" are perfectly normal at younger ages. b/d reversals are very common for many even without dyslexia. The other issue is that letter confusion can be a sign of many reading disabilities. Dyslexia is frequently way overused. Do you see letters in various positions, as well as complete words reversed (dog/god)? Are whole words switched in the sentence? Do you drag letters from other areas in the text (line above/line below)? Dyslexia is a broad definition termed as a learning disability that hinders an individual鈥檚 ability to spell, read, write and sometimes even speak. Dyslexic people are recognized to have difficulty in accurately recognizing words and very often have poor spelling and decoding abilities. It also often affects math skills with reversals in numbers and operations. You may also find following directions difficult as well as dealing with directionality. What are the signs of Dyslexia?
