have evacuation routes prepped, and make sure those in the affected area have enough supplies to surviveDUE-NOW:What should be done if we are facing eruption in Yellowstone as devastating as a nuclear attack?
No one really knows what would happen if the Yellowstone Caldera blows the main reason is because no one alive has ever experienced a super eruption on that level before the last one happened about 75,000 yrs ago on the island of Sumatra.
There would have to massive evacuations that would have made the Hurricane Katerina look like a day at the mall for everyone in and around the Caldera would have to get about 400 ft. from the Caldera even that might not be enough.
People would have to start buying things like Nonperishable food, Water, and just about everything else on the shelves.
The last time Yellowstone Erupted was about 640,000 yrs ago and that sent enough ash that went all the way to the Eastern Seaboard.
See what's behind a massive volcano like Yellowstone is that the Caldera keeps storing up magma that when it finally lets go of the pressure (think of it like a cork in a soda bottle the more times you shake it the more pressure builds up behind the cork until finally the pressure gets to much and finally the pressure is released) the same thing is happening with Super Volcanoes like Yellowstone and others. There are other volcanoes that are more dangerous than Yellowstone.DUE-NOW:What should be done if we are facing eruption in Yellowstone as devastating as a nuclear attack?
Stick our heads between our legs and kiss our butts "good-bye"
Nothing, the biggest impact you will face unless in the immediate area will be ash, gas masks and a car is all you need. If your within 50km of the blast radius, your dead. the biggest impact will be the amount of CO2 H2S etc that gets blanketed in the atmosphere but will break down over the next few years through UV dissociation. If this is your homework, earth help our school system!
